History

In 2002 an entrepreneurial leader named Bob Pace came up with a visionary idea with huge possibilities; establishment of a 501(C) 3, tax exempt, humanitarian, care and learning organization that could assist the poor in third world developing countries and at the same time serve as a model and impetus for raising awareness concerning the poor within the USA.

Today, that visionary seed has germinated, sprouted and developed into an International light of hope called People for Care and Learning (PCL).  PCL is “Inspiring hope and Empowering Potential” for orphans, widows, broken families and persons with little or no hope. In addition, PCL is giving the poor a working chance by the establishment of vocational training and micro-enterprise development.

In just a few short years PCL has established viable assistance in Cambodia, Myanmar, Bhutan, Albania and the Tsunami Zone of Sri Lanka. In these locations PCL is establishing orphanages, schools, feeding centers, vocational training institutes, widows’ care, learning centers, medical centers and leadership training.

And lest we overlook our own homeland, PCL initiated a financial and humanitarian drive during hurricane Katrina that successfully raised more than $130,000.00 for disaster relief.

Established under the entrepreneurial leadership of Bob Pace, PCL has transitioned into the hands of Dr. Fred Garmon, who, as of September 1, 2006 serves as International Executive Director and President (see Director’s Message).

Dr. Garmon invites you to join him and the PCL team on one of their five Insight / Awareness and/or Care and Learning Journeys they lead to Cambodian and Thailand each year. Experience the joy of giving back while at the same time enjoying a vacation with significance!
