The Tonle Sap Lake is the largest lake in all of SE Asia. As many as a million refugees live on this lake and make a living from it. The people living on this lake represent a true water world, with entire villages needing assistance. These people have fundamentally no humanitarian assistance, but PCL is making great strides to bring much needed help to these precious people.
The biggest need we have here at the Tonle Sap involves the building of a two-story boat that can be used as a multi-purpose facility providing medical care and clean water to those living on the Tonle Sap Lake. And now we are pleased to say that this vision is coming to pass in 2007 with your help!
PCL is Partnering with the United Nations to Supply Clean Water to the thousands of refugees living on the Tonle Sap Lake in Cambodia. Every 15 seconds a child dies from lack of access to clean water and the residents of the Tonle Sap Lake know this all too well as there is no clean water readily available to them.
This project is headed up by Garry and Kay Lentz of Lehigh Acres, FL, a well driller who visited the Tonle Sap with us in 2006. (see photo)
The UN plans to provide a barge and all the geological and logistical work and the Lentz' are donating the drill rig valued at approximately $60,000. PCL must raise the money to ship the drill rig etc..., est $30,000; a small price to provide clean water to the Cambodian and Vietnamese refugees on this massive and poverty stricken lake. Help with this effort by donating now.
PCL and the Men and Women of Action of SC partnered to construct a two-story floating medical clinic and feeding center for the Tonle Sap Lake.
The SC-MWOA State Director, Patton Butts, and Missions Director of Calvary COG, Westminster, SC, Gary Burton, initiated this project in the summer of 2006.
South Carolina raised the entire $17,000 to construct the boat! Thank you MWOA in South Carolina! Funds are still needed to resource this ministry and provide staff to live on the boat. About $100 a month will provide Khmer staff to live on the boat. If you would like to help by funding this project monthly need please email us or you can donate securely online here. |

MWOA of South Carolina have once again partnered with PCL to build a second medical clinic and feeding center that will also serve as a primary base for humanitarian faith-based outreach.
Gary Burton and Patton Butts have led this initiative and have to date raised $15,000.00 with a goal of $2,000.00 more that will completely pay for the boat's completion. These men were instrumental in raising the initial $30,000.00 it took to purchase the partially completed floating structure. The boat builders have been given the go-ahead and completion is scheduled for mid-August 2008. Gary and Patton will be returning with the PCL Voluntourism team on September 28, 2008 to dedicate the new floating facility.
